A Day in D.C.

Oromo Protest

I saw a few items on social media about the Democracy Spring protests in D.C. and about the large number of arrests. I thought this might be worth hopping in the car and taking the 2 hour drive to D.C. This is a chronicling of that adventure.

My social channels began showing articles about massive peaceful arrests of groups demonstrating at the Capitol, more arrests than ever before. The Democracy Spring effort started in Philadelphia, where thousands began a 140-mile walk to the U.S. Capitol to “demand Congress take immediate action to end the corruption of big money in our politics and ensure free and fair elections in which every American has an equal voice.” Seemed like a great thing to try to capture with the camera

Instead of finding the Democracy Spring protests, I found one thousand Ethiopians protesting genocide in their country. Citizen journalism fail, but I did get to meet a real African Queen!

African Queen

Since I was there, I decided to your the US Capitol building and marvel at it’s amazing architecture.

Followed up my tour of the US Capitol with a walk through the National Portrait Gallery.
